Meemure village trek from Kandy

Meemure is a Knuckles village day from Kandy: early pickup, a forest approach, and time in the settlement before the drive back. It is one of the gentler Knuckles introductions.

The day from Kandy

A Meemure day usually starts with a 6:30 a.m. pickup in Kandy. The road into the range takes about three hours, with a trailhead stop before the village. You walk a forest and farmland approach rather than a high ridgeline.

Time in Meemure is the point: tea, a look at the settlement, and a straightforward return to Kandy in the afternoon. It is a full day because of the transfer, not because the walking is severe.

Who it suits

First-time walkers, families with older children, and anyone who wants a Knuckles village rather than Five Peaks. If you want a harder day, look at the waterfall chain or the Five Peaks trek instead.

Questions

Is Meemure inside the Conservation Forest?

The approach uses Conservation Forest land, so the day is run as a guided Knuckles trek with the usual permit handling. The village itself is a settlement on the edge of that forest.
