Private days in the Knuckles

Knuckles is a private guiding service for travellers who want the conservation forest, not a packed viewpoint stop. We walk Meemure, Riverston, the Five Peaks, and the waterfall valleys between them, with Kandy pickup and the permits that route needs.

  • Independent notes live on our Trustpilot and Tripadvisor profiles. Both are widely used review platforms, and travellers can read those pages before they enquire.
  • The published review count can look small next to how many groups walk with us. Each platform asks guests to confirm the trip before a review is marked verified, sometimes across more than one email.
  • Some people skip that extra step, and we do not chase a rating after the trek. If you walked with us and want to leave a note, Trustpilot or Tripadvisor is the right place.

Questions

Before you book

Do I need a permit to trek in the Knuckles?

Yes, if the path enters the Knuckles Conservation Forest. Guided days include that paperwork. Cave camping needs a Forest Department permit requested at least two weeks ahead.

Where do the treks start?

Most Knuckles days start with a 6:30 a.m. pickup in Kandy. Trailheads then sit one and a half to three hours away, at Thangappuwa, the Riverston road, Meemure, or Heeloya.

What is the best time to go?

January to March is the clearest stretch. July and August can be bright on the rain-shadow side around Corbett's Gap. October to December is the wettest.

Can a beginner join?

Heeloya, Meemure, and Pekoe stage 1 are the gentlest days. The seven-day novice trek is built for first-time walkers who can still handle about 80 kilometres across the week.
