About this activity
Stage 3 runs from Loolkandura to Tawalantenne, 18.11 kilometres with about 762 metres of climbing, and it takes around six hours on foot. The path uses old estate tracks, including a stretch of the forgotten Dimbula road, and opens toward the Kotmale valley. It is a hard day hike from Kandy. Ask for the rate, and carry a Pekoe Trail pass.
The stage starts at a bridge over the Ma Oya on Loolkandura Estate and climbs before it ever feels remote. Later it crosses a pass onto Stellenberg Estate, where the trees thin and the valley views start. Eighteen kilometres is a long way in humid hills. We start early so you are not finishing in the dark.
Note: About 18.11 km on foot. Pickup in Kandy at 6:30 a.m. Drop-off Kandy, evening.

Is stage 3 harder than stage 1?
Yes. Stage 1 is about 13 km and graded easy. Stage 3 is over 18 km with a real climb. Do stage 1 first if you are unsure.
